My family has been in Safford, which is in rural southeastern Arizona for 7 generations, I live here with my beautiful wife Sarah, our adorable 4-year-old daughter Jordan, and newborn son Spencer. I’m a proud American Conservative, a Paratrooper, Combat Veteran of Afghanistan and a certified Firefighter. In my 33 years on this earth I have come to know several things beyond a shadow of a doubt. First and foremost, is that we live in the greatest nation the world has ever known. Despite her many flaws, The United States of America is still, as Ronald Reagan declared, the shining city on a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere.

Constitution is in peril

From the very beginning, even as our founding fathers were inspired by divine providence and raised up by our almighty Creator, the forces of evil have conspired to tear this nation apart by any means necessary. They have sought to destroy the constitution at every turn and used enemies both foreign and domestic to execute this sinister plan and to divide the nation from within.

Nearly all the freedoms and protections plainly and preciously laid out in that divinely inspired document are under assault. Large numbers of Americans wish to limit or abolish the safeguards of liberty protected by the bill of rights. Freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of the press are infringed upon daily. The most important freedom, the one that ensures all the others, the 2nd amendment which is the right to keep and bear arms is perhaps the one most seriously in peril.

The 10th amendment which defines the balance of power between the states and the federal government and declares that the federal government has only those powers specifically granted by the constitution, has been continuously ignored by those in power in Washington for years. Regular citizens like you and I suffer the consequences of sending selfish, elitist individuals to Washington who are in politics for all the wrong reasons; to gain power, prestige, and personal wealth even at the expense of the working class. It’s no secret that Washington is broken.

Protecting Our Gun Rights

The 2nd Amendment in my mind is the most important in the Bill of Rights because it ensures all the others. I've been around guns my entire life. My parents taught me proper gun safety and to not be afraid of guns but to respect them and always follow the rules of gun safety. I am doing the same with my young family. I'm an everyday concealed carrier and an avid hunter. The idea that more laws will stop criminals from acquiring guns is idiotic. Criminals by very definition do not follow the law.

Our Veterans Deserve Better

Our veterans, who should be the most cherished group in this country, have been largely forgotten by the out of touch Washington insiders. This is why the VA is so grossly mismanaged. It sickens me to realize that 20 of my fellow Veterans commit suicide every single day in this country, we have failed them. Too many Washington politicians never served a single day in the military, why should we expect them to understand the problem or even care about it? They weren’t the ones who were fighting communism and fighting for liberty in Vietnam. It sure wasn’t their sons and daughters that they sent to Iraq, Afghanistan and now Africa and Syria when freedom needed protection from Radical Islamic Extremists. No, it was us; the Sons and daughters from the shrinking middle class.

Our word is our bond, but in America it hasn’t seemed to mean much. My Father served in the Special Forces at the end of the Vietnam War. After the debacle of the Fall of Saigon, one memory among many that will never leave him is the look in the eyes of the Vietnamese people who told him they had believed right up to the end that America would not abandon them. Not only did we abandon our Vietnamese allies, we abandoned the very men we sent to fight the war and we vowed as a nation to never let it happen again.

Yet 4 decades later after my 2nd combat tour in Afghanistan with the Special Operations Forces, history repeated itself. My personal interpreter an Afghan national who provided an immeasurable service to the overall mission, shared fighting positions with us and even saved American lives, was told time after time that when his job was complete, he would be granted a special visa to come to America. After nearly 10 years of trying everything possible to secure that visa and after surviving multiple attempts on his life by Taliban militants, putting his young family in grave danger, he finally realized he and many like him were lied to. We would once again abandon helpless human beings who risked everything to benefit the United States, using them for our gain and then dumping them out with the trash.

And when I returned home to Arizona in 2011 and was experiencing symptoms of Post-traumatic stress, physically and mentally exhausted from over 16 months of extensive combat action, I sought help at the Phoenix VA, only to be put on the now infamous secret waiting list. For over 9 months I was unable to even see a mental health professional, by the grace of My savior Jesus Christ I survived but so many of my friends have not. America can do better. We must do better.

If we can’t live up to the promises, we make while sending men and women to war then we shouldn’t send them at all. We need to start electing more representatives that served in the military particularly in the recent wars in the Middle East. It’s time for a new generation of veterans to rise up and fix what is so clearly broken. There has been a steady decline over recent decades in the number of lawmakers that have served in the military. Back in the early 1970’s, nearly two thirds of all members of Congress were veterans. Today, that number is down to below 18%. This is a clear reason congress is currently in the mess that it’s in.

Out of Control Spending

Another sign of a fractured Washington is the out of control spending. The national debt has skyrocketed in recent years to over $22 Trillion today. The budget deficit is over $800 Billion, even those who profess to be fiscal conservatives waste taxpayer’s money like their lives depended on it. All of us must balance our household budgets year after year. State and local governments must do the same. Why should Washington be any different? We must rein in federal spending, keep taxes low, live within our means and balance the federal budget. I look into the eyes of my 3-year-old daughter and my infant son and wonder; what will this country look like when they have children of their own? We need to send more people to congress who have a genuine interest in the future of this great nation.

Economic Policies, Regulation, Free Trade, and President Trump

We must continue the free market practices and mutually beneficial trade deals that have been restored by the Trump Administration. These economic policies have caused our economy to roar back to life. Producing jobs and low unemployment figures that were thought to be impossible under liberal leadership. Free trade is absolutely necessary to ensure economic freedom and limited government. The government shouldn't be picking winners and losers by interfering in the free flow of goods and services.

Nobody can deny that President Trump has been particularly successful with his economic policies. He withdrew from the disastrous transpacific partnership and renegotiated NAFTA. His policies have led to a historic economic boom. The president's pro-growth policies are unleashing economic growth and providing opportunities to citizens across the country. He is slashing costly regulations that burdened hard-working Americans and stifled innovation.

President Trump is negotiating fair and balanced trade deals to protect American industries and workers. He is unleashing America's incredible energy resources as well.  I understand that government doesn’t create jobs but it sure can kill jobs, we need people in Congress who truly understand how the economy works and are committed to advocating for less burdensome regulations that really act as a hidden tax on hard working Americans.

Agriculture/Water Issues

I've seen firsthand the devastation resulting from the attack on the Agriculture industry. Witnessing countless of my neighbor's heart wrenching stories of the Federal Government’s gross overreach and indirect assault on our very way of life in terms of the battle over water rights. These folks are good, honest and kind-hearted people who simply want to continue to provide a decent living for their families. As a 7th generation resident of the Gila Valley, I recognize and respect the impact Farmers and Ranchers have on the economy. Especially in Rural Arizona. Agriculture is the lifeline of our communities. I fully grasp the impact our water issues have on the well-being of these industries as well as on our very future in Rural Arizona. The gross bureaucracy and federal regulations that the government can’t even seem to articulate are destroying these people’s lives.

It has become increasingly clear that this battle is an existential threat to our livelihood. Nobody should have the right to stop private landowners from irrigating their fields and providing water for their livestock. Talk is cheap, we have had enough talk and empty promises. We don't need any more typical politicians/attorneys or "water experts" telling us what we want to hear. Those are the very people behind this whole mess. I'm a fighter willing to stand up for our basic right to live and prosper in the communities that we have lived in for generations.

Nobody is asking for anything outrageous. We all just want an equitable share of water, and to get the Federal Government off of our backs and out of our wallets so that we can provide the essentials, and a basic living for our families.  I’m running for Congress to break the status quo. To be different and do things differently than every other typical politician. I will fight for these basic rights with every fiber of my being. My family has been here since the 1880's and we will be here long into the future.

As a guiding principle in my life I always fall on the side of freedom and liberty. This is a great foundation for any issue, especially healthcare. We need to ensure that citizens have the freedom to choose a Doctor and a healthcare plan that is tailored to their unique set of circumstances. The solution to rising healthcare costs is by allowing the free market to drive down prices by encouraging competition for insurance providers and Doctors. The same concept that allows me to shop for the best rate for car insurance and to shop the best rate to repair my car after an accident should also apply to healthcare. If I am unhappy with the price of premiums I should be able to drop that coverage at any time and go to the marketplace and find a cheaper alternative. As a completely healthy young 33 year old I should not be forced to pay an exorbitant price for health insurance when I haven't been to the Doctor in over 3 years.  When I finally do get sick enough to have to visit a clinic I should be able to search the best rate for the services I need regardless of if that clinic is in a specific insurers network. This will require clinics and hospitals to be upfront with the prices of their services much like auto body shops are.

Insurance providers should also reward their customers for taking steps to become healthier and therefore being less of a burden on the overall cost of healthcare much like auto insurance companies reward safe drivers and those who engage in preventative measures to ensure their car is safe to drive. With limited but necessary protections this freedom and liberty approach is the only way to fix the nations healthcare problem. Free healthcare for all isn't really free, we will all be forced to pay much higher taxes and have little to no freedom to choose which plan we want. This goes against the very fiber of our nation.

Crisis on the Southern Border

The compassionate answer to this crisis, believe it or not, is securing the border once and for all and zero tolerance for any illegal crossing. I will work with President Trump to secure the border. Law and order exists for a reason. We simply don’t have the capacity to detain hundreds of people at once and our system is overwhelmed. While less than ideal, the conditions of our detention facilities are not and never will be equal to Nazi concentration camps. Those analogies are hurtful and uncalled for. I still believe as Ronald Reagan did, “America is the shining city on a hill, whose beacon light guides freedom loving people everywhere.”

We want those law abiding, freedom loving individuals who simply seek a better life for their families. There is a place for everyone who loves America and the ideals that make us great. This grand American experiment has been successful because of our great diversity and inclusion. But America was founded upon and is only possible through the rule of law. We have rewarded unlawful entry to our country for decades and both parties are equally to blame. Now that the situation has finally become unsustainable, fake leaders on both sides pretend to scramble to find solutions but really only care about grandstanding and getting their perfect sound bites on CNN or Fox News and to use in their perpetual campaign commercials.

We can’t find meaningful solutions until more real leaders are elected to Congress who will stand up and work with President Trump in securing the border completely. We can’t have an honest discussion about immigration reform until we secure the border period. We must enforce existing laws, stop incentivizing unlawful entry and at the same time reward lawful behavior by providing a clear path to those freedom loving immigrants who are willing to follow the rules and come here legally. We want them to be free from the shadows and be contributing members of society. Our economy is booming, thanks to the conservative values and principles of the free market, mutually beneficial trade deals, low taxes and less regulation, there are jobs for everyone who wants one. Prosperity, however, is only possible through the rule of law and order. First, we must provide stability and care for our own citizens, especially our veterans before anyone else.

Opioid Epidemic

I sympathize and even empathize with the hundreds of thousands of citizens suffering from the opioid epidemic. My heart breaks for the thousands of families crippled by the evil scourge of drug addiction. A whole generation is being wiped out because of ineffective policies and our inability to stop the heroin and fentanyl from flowing across the southern border like a raging river. Like most problems, Government programs are not the answer, but federal grant dollars should be strategically placed into the private sector and with nonprofit charitable organizations who are best equipped to employ best practices to combat this issue.

We should also crack down on the for-profit addiction treatment industry to stop those who engage in predatory behavior, preying on families during the worst crisis of their lives. Those scheming organizations that charge an exorbitant price for a 30- or 60-day treatment program with little to no success actually treating addiction. This must end. Access to affordable scientific based treatment programs must be expanded, and we must do better partnering with Mexico to shut down the drug cartels who seem to operate with near full impunity. It’s absolutely imperative that we stop the flow of drugs flooding our communities by securing our borders. Enough is enough.

Life Begins at Conception and I Will Fight For Life

Every fiber of my being tells me that life definitely begins at conception. I will fight for life because without it, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are not possible. I will never forget seeing my baby girl on the monitor in the doctor’s exam room a few days after my wife became pregnant for the first time. When our doctor hooked up the device that monitors the heartbeat and began to slide it across Sarah’s stomach, I felt a warm rush envelope my entire body and chills ran down my spine, tears began to well up in my eyes; I was overcome with the Holy Spirit. But as amazing as that experience was, it didn’t come close to when she was actually born. At just 6 weeks into the pregnancy our baby’s heart was strong and beating 140 beats per minute. Concrete science has proven that new life begins when two cells unite to become one cell. Approximately 22 days after the two cells have united, a little heart begins to beat. At 26 days the circulation of blood begins.
The vast majority of abortions are performed to deal with unwanted pregnancies. This is simply a form of birth control. The debate in this country centers on the premise that women should be free to choose what they do with their own bodies.  We are all free to choose, free to think, and free to act. But once an action has been taken, we are never free from its consequences. Abortion isn't about freedom of choice, it is about escaping consequences of previous choices. When conception does occur, that choice has already been made. A woman is free to choose what she will do with her body but when the body of another soul is brought into the equation, things change. Her choice to begin the journey to parenthood binds her to the consequences of that choice. She cannot “unchoose.”
The soul of our country is at stake, we must defend the defenseless. I will fight for life. Adoption is the better choice. As Americans we should stand up for choice, the right choice. Why destroy a life that could bring great joy to others? There are better ways of dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. Adoption is a wonderful alternative to abortion. Both the baby and the adoptive parents can be greatly blessed by the adoption of that baby into a home where the child will be lovingly nurtured. I will work to make adoption a much easier process and promote education and counseling to young women who feel trapped and feel like abortion is the only choice.

Forest Management

We have a problem in the Western United States with forest management. A few years ago we had a major fire in my neck of the woods on Mt. Graham. I had never seen so many people angry and up in arms over mismanagement of our forest which lead to such a catastrophe. Their anger was more than justified. For decades we have fallen victim to the falsehood that active forest management is somehow hurtful to the environment. When the exact opposite is true. By letting “nature run it’s course” there are years’ worth of dead logs, overgrown shrubs and snags, which many firefighters call “widow makers” because they are so deadly.
We can and must remedy this situation through actions such as prescribed burns, mechanical thinning and timber harvesting. I’m a fierce advocate for better management of our forests, if for nothing else other than protecting the environment and supporting the economy! Catastrophic fires are very harmful to the environment.  Smoke, gases and particles affect air quality. Fires also damage watersheds and scorch the soil which prevents regrowth.  Timber harvesting creates jobs and logging has historically benefited rural economies. These economic benefits also support our goal of healthy forests.

National Security and Foreign Policy

The biggest deterrence to war is a strong military. We need to ensure that our men and women in uniform have everything they need to effectively defend our homeland and our interests around the world. We must continue to lead the world in defense spending to always stay steps ahead of our geopolitical foes such as Russia, China, North Korea and Iran and be ready to answer the call to come to the aid of freedom loving people anywhere on Earth without getting bogged down in nation building or costly forever wars. We must continue hunting down terrorists wherever they enjoy safe haven so that we will never have to face them on a battlefield in America.

We need to crack down on the waste, fraud and abuse that I witnessed firsthand in the Department of Defense. Those precious resources that are wasted could be spent on much needed programs that would further our military might. We must promote our core values of freedom, democracy and free enterprise through diplomacy, economic ties, and other alliances. Our closest allies in Europe and elsewhere need to know that when an enemy threatens them, they are threatening the United States of America. We must reward those nations that have never wavered in their alliance with us.

Crisis of Leadership and Hyper-Partisanship is Destroying This Nation

I’m often reminded of the following statement attributed to Edmund Burke, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” I'm running for Congress because I see a real crisis of leadership in Washington. The level of dysfunction and chaos is indicative of the lack of leadership from those men and women we the people have sent to Congress to represent all of us and our values. I can no longer sit idly by and watch these selfish, elitist individuals destroy our nation.  The citizens of Arizona deserve a representative who will always put them first.

My motto is, "Service, Sacrifice, and Love of Country". Whenever you are in the position to lead, you must always put those who depend on you first. I learned this on the battlefield. When men's lives were literally in my hands, my well being came last. My men always came first no matter what. The typical politicians in Washington have that completely backwards. For all of the reasons mentioned above and many more, and because I have a sincere desire to continue to serve my country and to stand for righteous principles. I plead with you to support my candidacy for the United States Congress in Arizona’s 1st Congressional district. To take on Democrat Tom O’Halleran. It’s time for a new generation of leadership. I’m running because this country needs leaders not politicians, I sacrificed much on the battlefields of Afghanistan because I know the importance of service above self.

I believe in bringing civility back to politics and our national discourse. I still believe that Americans on the left and the right have more things that unite us than divide us. It just takes real leaders on both sides to remind the nation of that often. We all want much of the same things like security and prosperity, better education and better healthcare. More jobs and a better economy. Better infrastructure and more opportunities for our children. We can fervently disagree on how to best achieve those things while still respecting the ideas of the other side.

I will never waver in my conservative values and principles. I will consistently and intelligently articulate true conservative positions and tirelessly defend conservative causes but I will never endorse personal attacks on my opponents and will never disseminate false or misleading messages or ads hoping to capitalize on citizen’s worst fears for shock value. I’m running because I believe I have a better vision for America and would do a better job representing the citizens of Arizona than any other candidate in the race I’m also in the best position of any republican candidate to win the general election in this district. But I need your help. Let’s take back our country and take back the House of Representatives. Will you stand with me? In order to effectively take the fight to the liberals, we need to raise the necessary funds. I need you to donate any amount you can afford to my campaign. I promise those dollars will be spent wisely. I can win this race and go to Washington to help stop the dangerous liberal agenda of Nancy Pelosi. But only with your help! Let’s Roll!!
